Section 01
45% Down Payment Policy
Every appointment at MAZ Tattoo — custom design or pre-drawn flash — requires a deposit to be placed on the studio calendar. The deposit is 45% of the estimated total session price, with a $100 minimum on any booking, even for smaller pieces where 45% of the quote would come out lower than $100.
The deposit amount is confirmed in writing once MAZ reviews your booking inquiry and provides a price estimate based on the size, placement, and complexity of your piece. No appointment is considered confirmed — and no date is held — until the deposit has been received in full.
Example: a session quoted at $400 requires a $180 deposit (45%). A session quoted at $150 still requires the $100 minimum deposit, since 45% of $150 falls under the minimum threshold.
The full deposit amount is applied toward the final cost of your tattoo on the day of your appointment. It is not an additional fee on top of the session price — it is simply the portion of the total paid in advance to secure your time slot.
Section 02
Private Payment Handle Protocol
To protect client privacy and prevent misuse, MAZ Tattoo does not publish payment handles, usernames, or invoice links anywhere on this website or on any public social media post. Payment information for Cash App, Venmo, or Apple Pay is issued strictly through a private channel — either direct email or a text message to the phone number provided on your booking inquiry — after your request has been reviewed and approved.
- Deposit instructions are sent only after your booking inquiry has been reviewed and a session has been tentatively scheduled.
- You will never be asked to send a deposit to a handle posted in a public comment, story, or DM from an unverified account.
- If you receive payment instructions that did not come through the email or phone number you submitted, do not send payment — contact the studio directly to confirm before proceeding.
This protocol exists to protect both the studio and its clients from impersonation and payment scams, which have become increasingly common across the tattoo industry on social media.
Section 03
Deposit Refund & Rescheduling Policy
All deposits collected by MAZ Tattoo are 100% non-refundable. Once a deposit is received, your appointment time is removed from the calendar and held exclusively for you, which means that slot is no longer offered to other clients — the non-refundable policy reflects that lost opportunity, not a penalty.
48-Hour Reschedule Notice: if you need to change your appointment date, you must notify the studio no less than 48 hours before your scheduled session. Reschedule requests made with proper notice allow your existing deposit to be transferred one time to a new date, subject to availability.
- Reschedule requests made less than 48 hours before the appointment forfeit the deposit, and a new deposit is required to book a future date.
- No-shows and same-day cancellations forfeit the deposit in full with no exceptions.
- Each booking is entitled to a maximum of one deposit transfer. A second late reschedule requires a fresh deposit.
- Deposits cannot be applied to a different artist, studio, or service — they hold value only toward your MAZ Tattoo appointment.
Life happens — illness, emergencies, and scheduling conflicts are understood. The 48-hour window simply gives the studio a fair chance to offer the freed-up slot to another client on the waiting list.
Section 04
18+ Age & Government ID Requirement
MAZ Tattoo tattoos clients 18 years of age and older only. This policy has no exceptions, including with parental consent or supervision — Maryland law and studio policy both require every client to be a legal adult at the time of their appointment.
- A valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID is required at every appointment (driver's license, state ID, or passport).
- The name on your ID must reasonably match the name provided on your booking inquiry.
- Clients who cannot produce valid ID at check-in will not be tattooed, and the session deposit will be forfeited under the non-refundable policy above.
- This requirement applies equally to custom sessions, flash bookings, and walk-in tattoo inquiries.
Section 05
Studio Policy FAQ
Common questions from local and traveling clients about booking, walk-ins, and studio style.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?+
MAZ Tattoo operates primarily by appointment, which is the best way to guarantee a time slot for custom work. That said, the studio keeps limited walk-in availability during posted studio hours for simple flash pieces and quick fine line work — availability varies day to day, so booking ahead through the Flash or Booking page is always the safer option, especially if you're traveling in from Catonsville, elsewhere in the DMV, or out of state.
How is MAZ Tattoo different from other tattoo shops in Baltimore?+
Most tattoo shops in Baltimore run multiple artists out of one location, often with walk-ins taken by whichever artist is free that day. MAZ Tattoo runs differently: MAZ personally reviews and designs every booking, and tattoos every piece he takes on himself. For work that's a better fit for a different specialty, MAZ matches the job to a trusted guest artist from the studio's vetted network — so you're never just handed off to whoever happens to be around. That structure is a big part of why the studio gets mentioned alongside the best tattoo shops in Baltimore in client reviews.
I'm coming from Catonsville, elsewhere in the DMV, or out of state — is it worth the trip?+
Clients from Catonsville, Ellicott City, and the surrounding Baltimore metro regularly book with MAZ Tattoo specifically for the fine line and black & grey specialty work that's harder to find at closer tattoo shops in Catonsville. The studio also books clients from across the full DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) and out of state. MAZ is Baltimore-based but travels for sessions depending on the schedule, so if you're planning a trip, mention your travel window and general location in your booking inquiry and MAZ will work out logistics with you.
What styles does MAZ Tattoo specialize in?+
The studio's core focus is fine line tattoo Baltimore clients request most — hairline botanical, script, and geometric work — along with black & grey realism and traditional flash. Full examples of each style are available on the Portfolio page.
Has MAZ tattooed at the Baltimore tattoo convention?+
Yes. MAZ has exhibited and tattooed at Baltimore tattoo convention events, and the studio's day-to-day work is held to that same convention-grade standard for linework, shading, and finish.
How far in advance should I book?+
Because MAZ personally reviews and designs every custom booking, sessions with MAZ himself — especially larger pieces — can book out several weeks in advance. A project matched to a guest artist may open up sooner, depending on that artist's schedule. Flash designs move fastest since they require no design consultation. Submitting your booking inquiry early is the best way to secure your preferred date either way.
What forms of deposit payment are accepted?+
Cash App is the preferred deposit method, with Venmo and Apple Pay also accepted. You'll select your preferred method on the booking form, and the actual handle or invoice link is sent privately by email or text once your inquiry is approved — see Section 2 above.
Can I bring a friend to my appointment?+
One guest is welcome for support, space permitting. For longer custom sessions, please check with the studio in advance since the space is intentionally small and private.
What's the fastest way to reach the studio directly?+
Text or call
(727) 537-9793 — texting usually gets the quickest reply. You can also email
info@maztattoo.com. For new tattoo requests, submitting the
Booking Inquiry form is still the best way to get a full quote and date, since it captures placement, sizing, and reference images all at once.
Does MAZ work alone, or are there other artists?+
MAZ leads the studio and personally handles every booking that comes in, but he doesn't work alone. For projects outside his own specialty — a style, subject, or technique that's a better fit elsewhere — MAZ draws on a trusted network of guest artists he's personally vetted. He makes that match himself rather than leaving it to chance, so the standard stays consistent no matter whose hands are actually doing the work.
How much does it cost for MAZ or a guest artist to travel to me?+
Travel sessions — including out of state — are available for the right price and job. There's no flat travel fee listed publicly since it depends on distance, project size, and schedule; mention your location and what you're looking to get done in your booking inquiry, and MAZ will work out the logistics and cost with you directly.
